“Someday,” is a rather sentimental but poignant animated video created by PETA along with Morrissey to try and draw attention to the abhorrent conditions these poor birds live in and the biblical numbers that are slaughtered every year.
This is a non-commercial attempt to highlight the fact that world leaders, irresponsible corporates and mindless ‘consumers’ are combining to destroy life on earth. It is dedicated to all who died fighting for the planet and those whose lives are on the line today. The cut was put together by Vivek Chauhan, a young film maker, together with naturalists working with the Sanctuary Asia network (www.sanctuaryasia.com).

Nothing heralds the arrival of summer quite like elderflowers. I’m lucky enough to have quite a large elder at the end of my garden and I know that when those big splashes of cream appear amongst the green leaves, long warm days, music festivals and picnics in the park are not far off. But it also means it’s time to make one of my favourite drinks – elderflower champagne.
Elders are fairly small trees, rarely growing more than a few metres tall, and have oval-shapped leaflets a few inches long. The bark of the trunk usually has verticle furrows and the branches can often become brittle and snap easily. The flowers are tiny and cream-coloured with five petels, but grow in big bunches. Elders grow just about everywhere, from hedgerows, to woodland, to gardens, so you should have no trouble finding them.
